Skills for All Australians
PM allocates Billions for Skills Training. Policy motivations of the reform include:- In an economy changing due to the high dollar, skills build job resilience, they provide workers the capacity and flexibility to switch careers and apply skills in different contexts
- Government is committed to building a highly skilled workforce and a more productive economy
- All Australians should be able to access training, regardless of background or economic situation
- Skills Australia estimates that in the five years to 2015, Australia will need an additional 2.1 million people in the workforce with VET qualifications
- The Government has put $1.75billion on the table to work with the States & Territories to deliver these reforms over the next 5 years
- The offer is in addition to the $7.2 billion the Government will make available to the States and Territories over the next 5 years.
- Total = $9 billion over the next five years
